How often should my dog be groomed?
Most dogs benefit from professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Breeds with fast-growing coats like Poodles and Doodles may need grooming every 3-4 weeks, while short-haired breeds can go 6-8 weeks. We will recommend a schedule based on your dog's breed and coat condition.
What should I do to prepare my dog for a grooming appointment?
Let your dog go for a walk beforehand to burn off energy. Avoid feeding them a large meal right before the appointment. If your dog has any mats, do not try to cut them out yourself — we will handle them safely. Let us know about any skin conditions, allergies, or behavioral concerns when you book.
How long does a full grooming session take?
A full bath and groom typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours depending on your dog's size, coat condition, and temperament. Heavily matted dogs or large breeds may take longer. We never rush — your dog's comfort comes first.
Do you sedate dogs during grooming?
No, we never sedate dogs. We use fear-free handling techniques, patience, and positive reinforcement. For extremely anxious dogs, we may recommend shorter, more frequent visits to gradually build their comfort level. In rare cases, we may suggest consulting your vet about mild calming aids.
Can I stay and watch while my dog is being groomed?
We find that most dogs behave better when their owners are not present, as they tend to seek attention or become more anxious. However, you are welcome to watch from our waiting area window. For puppies on their first visit, we may ask you to step out once they have settled in.
