How do I know if I need therapy?

What's the difference between a psychologist, therapist, and psychiatrist?

Is everything I say in therapy confidential?
Yes, with limited legal exceptions. Therapists are required by law to break confidentiality only if there is imminent danger to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a valid court order. We discuss confidentiality thoroughly at your first session.
How long does therapy typically last?
This varies significantly by individual and concern. Some people see meaningful improvement in 8-12 sessions for specific issues like anxiety or adjustment difficulties. Complex trauma, personality-related patterns, or couples work may benefit from longer-term treatment. We collaborate with you on goals and timeline.
Do you accept insurance for therapy?
We accept most major insurance plans and can verify your mental health benefits before your first appointment. For out-of-network providers, we provide superbills that you can submit for reimbursement. We also offer a sliding scale for qualifying patients.
