What's the difference between a dermatologist and an esthetician?
A dermatologist is a medical doctor with specialized training in diagnosing and treating skin diseases and performing skin surgery. An esthetician is a licensed skincare professional who performs cosmetic treatments like facials and peels. Dermatologists can prescribe medications and perform biopsies and surgeries.
Does insurance cover dermatology visits?
Most health insurance covers medically necessary dermatology visits including skin exams, acne treatment, eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer treatment. Cosmetic procedures like Botox, fillers, and laser treatments are typically not covered by insurance.
How long does it take for acne treatment to work?
